How to Apply

We developed two repellents, a liquid and granular, to target specific types of Dog & Cat behavior. Choose the repellent that best suits your needs, or use both Granular and Spray for maximum protection.

General Application Tips

  • When it comes to dog and cat behavior, it is easier to prevent a habit than to break one. Use I Must Garden Dog & Cat Repellent to safely train your pets to avoid areas you consider off limits
  • Scoop the poop. When breaking habits of strays or neighbor’s pets, it’s best to remove fecal matter prior to applying repellent
  • Be Consistent. Established habits require heavier and more frequent applications. Apply as needed until desired level of control is achieved
  • Keep it up. Once the animals are staying away, less frequent applications at regular intervals are recommended to maintain control
  • Use the Dog & Cat Granular and Spray repellents together for ultimate control

Liquid

– To Prevent Chewing and Unwanted Bathroom “Visits”

I Must Garden Liquid Dog & Cat Repellent makes it easy to protect any area that is being visited, or chewed on by dogs or cats. Simply spray areas and surfaces that are being targeted for long-lasting protection. Please consider the following guidelines:

Protect plants and areas of your yard

  • Be thorough with your spray - make sure you cover the area you want protected with a fine mist
  • Reapply repellent every 1-3 weeks or as needed to maintain avoidance. Breaking an established habit may require more frequent and heavier applications
  • Apply repellent to dry surfaces. This helps the repellent adhere to the surface and gives it long lasting effectiveness and rain resistance
  • Always scoop fecal matter from area you are trying to protect prior to application
  • Reapply after frequent or heavy rainfall.

Protect furniture, garbage cans, and other objects

  • Always check for discoloring and odor acceptability before applying to objects like furniture, fabric, and blinds.
  • Be thorough with your spray - make sure you cover the area you want protected with a fine mist
  • Repellent can be applied to cloth and rubbed onto the surface you want protected
  • Reapply repellent every 1-3 weeks or as needed to maintain avoidance. Breaking an established habit may require more frequent and heavier applications
  • Apply repellent to dry surfaces. This helps the repellent adhere to the surface and gives it long lasting effectiveness and rain resistance. Reapply as necessary to maintain control

Protect Trees

Dogs urinating on trees, particularly newly planted, young trees, can be quite damaging. with I Must Garden Dog & Cat Repellent you can stop dogs from urinating on trees. To keep dogs away from trees, you can use either our granular repellent, our spray repellent or a combination of both. Generously sprinkle at least three foot wide band of repellent all around the base of tree. Create a boundary around the tree you want to protect. As the dog approaches the tree, it will be repelled by the scent and go somewhere else. Initially, you may want to apply the repellent every 5-7 days and after heavy rains. After breaking the habit apply as needed to maintain control.

"Hi! This item arrived 4 days ago. So far the visiting cat has seemed to avoid front garden area. No strong repellent odor that I could notice. I like this product because it is made from various flora rather than wild animal urine. I've been concerned that repellent created from animal waste may involve abuses to the animals. This product is created with clove oil, mint oil, garlic, white pepper and other natural oils. Safe to use. Easy to apply. Container can be recycled as #2 plastic. This repellent will not harm pets or other animals. I recommend giving this product a try. This does stop dogs from digging. "
